TLDR: Spend December with us over in our private Facebook Mom & … Community group where we’ll be spending the month discussing our favorite exercises and top learnings from Megan Logan’s Self Love Workbook for Women. You need this & you DESERVE this!
—-
We were supposed to be recording an episode with Cara Harvey from Episode 37 to talk about her new book that’s coming out in January, but had to reschedule due to an electrical outage at her house.
Since we were all ready to hit record anyway, we thought it would be a good opportunity to do a quick video to promote our giveaway of Megan Logan’s, “Self Love Workbook for Women” (Ep 43). One thing led to another and the next thing we knew, we had an entire podcast episode complete with Look, Listen, Learns.
In an effort to hit publish as quickly as possible since the giveaway ends TODAY (Tuesday Nov 30th) we have some seriously short show notes but did want to give a little shout out to seethewayisee.com, where Missy bought her adorable sweatshirt. Visit our YouTube Channel to see it for yourself!
Enter to win a copy of the Self Love Workbook for women by simply rating and/or reviewing our podcast and then DM’ing us or emailing us at info@momandpodcast.com to let us know you did it. Easy peasy! Don’t know how to rate/review? Here’s a handy tutorial!
Apologies for any errors in the auto – transcriptions below. Also apologies for occasionally referring to Megan’s clients as patients. She’s so dang smart we gave her a doctorate.
[00:00:00] Susanne: it’s been awhile since we’ve recorded over the holidays. So Missy and I have forgotten how to podcast.
[00:00:10] Missy: Fully forgot how to podcast. I’m just staring at the screen going what happens now?
[00:00:15] Susanne: It’s nice to see you at least.
[00:00:17] Missy: It’s nice to see you too. .
[00:00:18] Susanne: Why aren’t we doing a video while we were in the studio today to do a podcast recording, , with Cara Harvey who has a new book out well, it’s coming out in. Late January. , but her electricity is out Cara hope.
You’re okay. And so, so Missy and. I was just, you were in the studio and figured while we are here and somewhat dressed, we kind of matched show everybody your shirt again. I just think your shirt
[00:00:40] Missy: Yeah. Oh, I’ve got to adjust over thinker and then the cuffs say breathe in and I can’t find it. Breathe out, breathe in, breathe out. It’s a good reminder, especially cause it’s currently the holiday season.
[00:00:53] Susanne: And an honor of the holiday season, we had been sharing in our Facebook group, our private Facebook group, as well as on our other socials that we are doing a giveaway of the self-love workbook for women, which is by Megan, Logan, who we loved. What episode was that again? Missy 43.
[00:01:12] Missy: at 43. So if you haven’t listened to it, go listen to it. She’s so smart.
[00:01:17] Susanne: She is so smart and Missy and. I tried to become her business managers and we just, we feel like she needs to do a Ted talk and be like on a nationwide road show that she, uh, wants to just stay home and take care of her patients. And
[00:01:31] Missy: I imagine that
[00:01:32] Susanne: I know she doesn’t want a TV show or anything, but she is
[00:01:35] Missy: patients are lucky people
[00:01:36] Susanne: I know.
Oh my gosh. I
[00:01:38] Missy: knows her business.
[00:01:39] Susanne: Exactly. And so this is such a great book and we are on this mindset. I don’t know, Missy, are you on this journey with me where I’m like new year’s resolutions are great. The idea of goal setting, but I’m like, I think we all get so disappointed when we don’t achieve a goal or we feel like we can’t be happy until we reach this goal.
And this book is all about. Don’t worry about the resolution. Your only resolution is to shut up the mean girl in your head that is telling you that you need to hit some milestone before you can be happy. And that’s a bunch of BS and this book will help you get to a place where you can actually be like, that’s Right.
It’s not just someone telling me that it’s like, you actually feel it.
[00:02:22] Missy: My main has been so loud this week after seeing photos from Thanksgiving.
[00:02:27] Susanne: oh you know what we get, we took family photos for Thanksgiving. I have not seen them yet. Our friend, Liz McGuire. Who’s an amazing.
photographer. Um,
we met with her last week and so we had the whole family and she’s like, do you think it’ll take 30 minutes or an hour? I was like, let’s take an hour. And I think we use like an hour.
So thanks to this. Um, but I’m, I got to tell. Uh, my sister-in-law who’s gorgeous. I mean like statuesque, gorgeous, just you to follow shiny hair. Like both of us spent the next hour after we were done with the photos being like, my pants looked funny. My sweater was this, my , my, this was this, my hair was doing this. Oh I feel, I wish I hadn’t eaten all that pumpkin pie. And I didn’t just like. And then both of us realized that the fact that I was looking at her like this beautiful goddess of a woman, like, and I was watching her with her kids and just. Just being beautiful and gorgeous. And she was seeing the same thing and me, and we’re like, we are so ridiculous.
Like the guys weren’t thinking about that they were
[00:03:31] Missy: my gosh. No, the guys think they’re awesome.
[00:03:34] Susanne: or, or they were thinking that they weren’t feeling comfortable enough to say, I don’t know, but I mean, so anyway, I obviously I need to take a deeper dive into the
[00:03:43] Missy: I really should be spending a little time with it every evening. Cause I mean, My inner mean girl between that. And then some of my other goals that I just have not accomplished this month, because it’s been sort of a crazy month and in my inner dialogue has not been kind to me, which is why I put on this shirt today.
Like breathe in, breathe out. You’re fine.
[00:04:02] Susanne: I like it. Okay. I needed that reminder to the yes, but oh, we’re giving away a copy of this, but you gotta be pretty fast. It is today. This is the deadline November 30th. I will tell you though. You’ve got really good odds because for I’ve learned this a long time ago, any type of like, if there’s a blogger who’s ever like entered a, win this gift basket from the sponsored post or what.
Enter to win. I’ve pretty much been like a 50% odds of winner because, because people they don’t enter. or they’re busy or just, They don’t think they’re going to win, so they don’t do it or they read the thing and they’re like, that was nice. I don’t really need the gift basket. Um, But and even if you do not, if you cook already got a copy of the book or you just want to buy it yourself, you don’t want us to ship it to you.
Cause you don’t want us to know your address. Cause we’re kind of weird.
[00:04:50] Missy: But we’re also really lazy. So we’re not going to mail you a bunch of stuff. Don’t worry.
[00:04:55] Susanne: going to mail you this one thing.
[00:04:56] Missy: We’re not going to use your address for anything good or bad or otherwise we’ll forget.
[00:05:02] Susanne: But the only thing you need to do is go, and I’m going to try to show how to do this. I do the apple podcasts. Um, so you go and find our little podcast. Don’t ask why I have two of them.
[00:05:15] Missy: That’s a,
[00:05:15] Susanne: It’s a podcasting
[00:05:17] Missy: or thing. Yeah.
[00:05:18] Susanne: but if you, Yeah. boom. And you scroll, scroll, scroll, boop, boop, boop, all the way, down.
And then you see ratings and reviews.
Look at, we are a five star and I cannot actually click on the stars here cause I’m not allowed to rate myself. I don’t think, um, you don’t even have, there’s such nice reviews in here at the podcast is like sitting around having coffee with your coolest. Yeah. Did you write that.
one, Missy, but you don’t even have to write anything. That’s what I get a little intimidated to do book reviews and all that kind of stuff. Cause I’m like, I need to have the most perfect combination of words to experience. to express what I feel, but you don’t, you can even just boop, the stars, hopefully five, if you want to do less than five then no, thank you.
[00:06:05] Missy: No, thank you. Yeah.
[00:06:07] Susanne: No, you can rate us however you feel. Uh, we are deserving. Um, you can review or just rate and after you are done with that, just go either to our Facebook and DMS, or you can email us at what’s our email info at mom,
[00:06:24] Missy: mom, man,
[00:06:25] Susanne: A N D podcast.com. and just say I did it or whatever, just because, or if, I don’t know, some of these names are pretty obvious who they are, but, um, just in case the name that you review goes under is under like fluffy kitten, 33.
Like, I’ll be like, who’s that?
[00:06:44] Missy: Yeah.
[00:06:44] Susanne: Exactly. Just so we know that it’s you the one and you know, we only have 17 ratings there, so
[00:06:52] Missy: we need a hundred.
[00:06:53] Susanne: Your odds are pretty good yet we need a hundred and I know you’re like, oh, what’s in it for me. Well, first of all, you could win the book. Yay.
[00:06:59] Missy: Yeah.
[00:07:00] Susanne: That’s that’s awesome. Um, but there are so many, if you’re enjoying the podcast, we hope you are.
If you’re listening to this, you’re probably enjoying the podcast. Um, and there’s others who could benefit from it. And the internet world does not make it really easy for people to find podcasts, especially when there are so many. Huge ones out there. And they do not really even show podcasts within like sections, you know, podcasts for parents, podcasts for moms Or whatever.
Um, until you get a hundred ratings and we are at 17 and we know we have thousands and thousands of downloads. So we know that there’s more than 17 people that listen to
[00:07:42] Missy: Or there’s 17 of you re downloading over and over again, in which case, talk to us, you’re doing it wrong.
[00:07:49] Susanne: I don’t know what’s happening. Um,
[00:07:51] Missy: so much to the 17 of
[00:07:52] Susanne: I know you’re so enthusiastic. Um, but anyways, so yes, if I know it’s, it’s kind of a pain you’re busy, but just like seriously, while you’re already listening to us, just scroll down to the bottom there and just boop the stars and then just shoot us a note and say, I did it.
Let me win a book. Um, and
[00:08:11] Missy: Uh, and I think on our Facebook page, you can also give us stars
[00:08:17] Susanne: You know what,
[00:08:18] Missy: a review. And if you do that, it counts, right. Like we would
[00:08:21] Susanne: I think it does. Yeah. You can do that Except for I went and looked, we had two, five star reviews on our Facebook page and I went and looked at him and they are people trying to sell crap. So don’t do that.
[00:08:33] Missy: thanks for the reviews. We’re not buying it, whatever, unless we like it. I don’t know.
[00:08:37] Susanne: I know.
if it, if it’s real, if it’s relevant, but now they were spammers. So yeah. Give us some legit. We would like some Legit reviews. And if you are someone who has a way less than five star review do send us an email and let us know what.
[00:08:52] Missy: Yeah.
[00:08:53] Susanne: Um,
[00:08:54] Missy: click the stars, but please reach out to us.
[00:08:57] Susanne: we’re open to constructive criticism, but please don’t blow our stars.
Um, but no, we, Yeah. we’d love to hear. Or even if you did a five-star and just want to, Hey, I want to hear more of this in the year ahead. Cause we kind of were already planned through January. Um,
[00:09:13] Missy: I think our tipsy ellipses episodes are planned pretty far out. And then our regular episodes, at least through January.
[00:09:20] Susanne: So we’re, we’re already, we’re already planning. So let us know.
if there’s stuff you want to hear more of or less of. Um, so Yeah.
but in the meantime, today is the last day to enter, to win this workbook because we’re going to be talking about lessons from the workbook in our mom and community, private Facebook group.
Um, which if you are searching for that, pretty much anywhere you search for us, you searched for. A N D spelled out, but just cause we like to complicate things, our private Facebook group, you will search for by doing mom space and then the ampersand, or make it super easy on yourself and just go to momandpodcast.com and we’ve got links to all the places there.
Um,
[00:10:03] Missy: how I get there half
[00:10:04] Susanne: I know. So do Y I’m like, I don’t want to remember how to type thing, so yeah, just, you can find all the links to all the stuff there.
Um, but Yeah, go, we’ve had a bunch of people joining actually the past couple of days. I’m really excited. So we’re going
[00:10:17] Missy: I hope they’re joining because they’re excited for book club. I hope they’re joining because they want to hang out beyond that, but it would be great if we had some good book club discussion.
[00:10:25] Susanne: Yes.
And I know, and I think, uh, depending on Megan schedule, she had sounded open to like popping in here and there to maybe either answer some questions or maybe we can, we really wanted to, we still have not confirmed this. Um, do like, uh, what was it called? Vision boarding. Do the new year’s vision boarding.
We have not asked Megan about this yet. Maybe we’ll do it even, even if she can’t join us. , but Yeah.
we’re going to be talking about a lot of the points in here. , it’s super helpful if you do have the workbook, because in honor of copyright laws and all those things, we’re not going to be like. Laying out exactly.
What’s in there, but just more, uh, talking about the overall topics and some of the exercises were the most helpful to us. So definitely if you want to join that discussion, you don’t need the book, but we do highly recommend it. Um, we do not get a cut of it. And as we learned in our episode with Megan, she,
no longer gets a cut of it.
Because publishing deals can be a real
[00:11:27] Missy: it can be a little weird.
[00:11:29] Susanne: Um, but so Yeah.
this isn’t even a sales pitch for Megan. Um, except for the fact that she’s an extraordinary person and we’re trying to get her to like be the next Oprah. But other than that, um, Any purchase of the book does not help us, does not help her, but it
[00:11:44] Missy: goes to the publisher.
[00:11:45] Susanne: you. Yeah. Congratulations to whoever, uh, rock Ridge press. Who’s like number 15 on all of the Amazon lists, but, um, but it will help you. So
[00:11:57] Missy: mean, rock Ridge press had the presence of mind to know. Megan was amazing. So we’ll give him that.
[00:12:02] Susanne: Yeah.
And I think there are things I kind of dove into them cause I was like, well, that seems like a smart idea, but I think they do that. They find experts in all these various categories and have them, which is kind of nice because I don’t think, and I’m hoping Megan will work on her own book, but because she is so focused on her day-to-day patients that, you know, it, it probably took a publisher to come and be like, you are so good at this.
Like, let’s get this.
[00:12:26] Missy: Right. It,
[00:12:27] Susanne: yeah.
let’s get this to a broader audience where, you know, maybe she would’ve just been like with her day-to-day clients, which she, like I said, we’ve tried to propose all kinds of wonderful ways that we could try to.
[00:12:39] Missy: like, she keeps going. I’m happy. I’m happy. I like what I’m doing, which
[00:12:43] Susanne: I am aware of myself love and what my boundaries are.
And she’s like, and I need boundaries for you. Two who are telling me that I need to do more stuff. But, um, but Yeah. so I highly highly recommend getting the book for yourself. Not, not for us, not for anybody else, but I think it’ll be a fun discussion that we’re I think we said we were going to start doing it on December 15th, but we’ll probably going to start earlier because
[00:13:07] Missy: Yeah.
[00:13:08] Susanne: I think we need it.
I don’t
[00:13:10] Missy: we should revisit our
[00:13:11] Susanne: or maybe today, because if you’re already breaking out the inspirational sweatshirts, Missy, I feel like we need, could all use. We could all use a little self-love we’re releasing ourself
[00:13:23] Missy: month to do it. Cause I feel just like there’s so much for everybody to focus on and it’s endless lists and the feeling I have most Decembers is one a failure, not massive failure, but oh, I’m late with my Christmas cards. Oh, I have, you know, there’s just like, I haven’t finished buying gifts.
I need to schedule time with these people. I should probably take care of myself. Like all of this is going in
[00:13:47] Susanne: Should should, should,
[00:13:49] Missy: Shouldn’t myself, all over the place.
[00:13:52] Susanne: should in yourself.
[00:13:54] Missy: And, it’s just, I don’t think I’m alone in that. It’s a crazy, crazy time of year. And if we gave ourselves some grace and a little bit of self love, then it might be a better month.
[00:14:06] Susanne: I think so. And a better year, because like I said, if you are trying to set intentions our goals for the year ahead, I think we have learned through the past year of interviewing coaches and learning all these lessons. You want to set goals for the real, you. And for the things that are really important to you, not the things that maybe you are doing for others or the things that maybe you think you should be doing, because what we talked about before, it’s like, Reorganizing a refrigerator full of spoiled food.
Like, no, you gotta get rid of all the moldy strawberries instead of just letting him take space up in your crisper, NEPA, strawberries, and a CRISPR. Maybe that’s my problem. I don’t know what I
[00:15:00] Missy: know.
[00:15:02] Susanne: in any case. I think taking the time to join us in the group, talk about the exercises in the book and really get set on just being happy with where it not happy, but loving where you are and loving yourself through where you are and getting a better idea of who you are and what you really want before you try to set a bunch of.
Goals don’t actually apply to the things that are truly important to you. So let’s
[00:15:33] Missy: Yeah, and I hate the idea of resolutions because they are just, they are basically, you’re resolving to fail because there, it just sets you up for this expectation. And it’s ridiculous. But if you give yourself a good foundation of really knowing who you are and loving that person, I think the rest will fall into line.
At least that’s what, that’s, what we’ve heard
[00:15:54] Susanne: Because what are the
[00:15:55] Missy: people we’ve interviewed,
[00:15:56] Susanne: The resolutions are usually eat healthy.
[00:16:00] Missy: eat healthy.
[00:16:01] Susanne: You, Hey, I’m going to exercise more. I’m going to, Yeah. it’s mostly that I would think, right. Or I’m going to get more organized.
[00:16:11] Missy: Yeah. I do. Look, I’m going to make sure I stay on top of whatever thing it is that I have not been on top of or, um, I’m going to meditate every day. And when I, the day I don’t meditate, then I feel like a failure and that’s it. It’s so silly. It’s so
[00:16:26] Susanne: Which makes me, oh, I was really looking forward to our interview with Cara Harvey, Cara, get your electricity back on girl. I really needed to talk to you today because her book that we’re going to be talking about, it’ll be the end of January when the episode airs. But, um, I think that book is going to help people get some of those systems in place as far as like, okay.
Once you figure out what you do. Want to do. Here’s how to get them organized. Here’s how to prioritize them. But I think really we do need to spend like this next month or two until that episode, just really getting a hand of, first of all, having that grace, like you were talking about being nice to ourselves.
Training the little voice in our head to behave and getting in a place where we don’t have to make resolutions or feel like we have to hit a particular goal to feel good about ourselves. I mean, I think that’s the
[00:17:18] Missy: I want to learn to talk to me the way I talked to you. Like I.
[00:17:23] Susanne: should cause you
[00:17:24] Missy: Tell you,
I would never tell a friend the things I told myself. Never.
[00:17:33] Susanne: Okay. I think we need to start this book immediately. I say, okay, everybody just go to the group. Um,
[00:17:39] Missy: no.
[00:17:39] Susanne: and, and we are going to start immediately,
[00:17:42] Missy: although I won’t be there today, maybe late tonight. I won’t be there today.
[00:17:45] Susanne: Well, I don’t know. I’m not just gonna sit there waiting, but we’ll start some
[00:17:50] Missy: Yeah. And if you show up and we’re not there, like we’ll be back.
[00:17:53] Susanne: Yeah.
So, but you’ll know by tomorrow, whether or not you won the book. By the book because we’re going to be talking about it. Um, and like I said, I, I, even though Megan, isn’t getting any more money for this book, I still want to honor her publisher and the people who went out of the way to put this book together.
So we don’t want to infringe on any copyright or anything like that. So, so get the book, if you really want to deep dive into it with us, or we’ll just. Skimmed the fringes together in the group. Um, and then people can bring other ideas that they have too, about things that they’ve done that have worked, or maybe just bring up some questions that we can take to Megan, we got the inside track with her, so maybe we can, um, bring her in for a discussion for anybody who has any specific things that they’re having extra challenges with.
So Yeah.
go, go review us. Y’all cause then everybody can find us and just
[00:18:48] Missy: It’s such an awkward thing to ask people to do. Like, I feel really weird doing it, but it’s so helpful. And it does take, I mean, really this FiveStars takes less than a second. Um, and then if you want to write something nice, you can,
[00:19:03] Susanne: you can, just say hi. No, I know. I.
[00:19:08] Missy: But does thrill us to death, like, you know, and when we see something new pop up where like we share it with each
[00:19:14] Susanne: I know. Ooh. Hey, here let’s let’s tell people things that they could write. Let’s give up some ideas.
[00:19:22] Missy: a little script,
[00:19:24] Susanne: Uh, Hey Susanne why don’t you dry your hair?
[00:19:29] Missy: crazy.
[00:19:31] Susanne: What do you always wear the same shirt to record your podcast?
[00:19:35] Missy: I really do have a rotation of like three shirts that are my podcast shirts. They’re comfortable, they don’t itch or pinch or anything. And I just know that I can throw them on
[00:19:46] Susanne: Well, I don’t, I
[00:19:47] Missy: my podcast
[00:19:47] Susanne: love your new sweatshirt. No, I do have a
[00:19:49] Missy: to the rotation.
[00:19:51] Susanne: And
[00:19:51] Missy: Oh, are we going to look, listen, learn a
[00:19:53] Susanne: Oh crap. Okay. Yeah, we are going to have to edit it. this is going to end up being an hour
[00:19:57] Missy: I did.
[00:19:58] Susanne: that we just popped it.
[00:19:59] Missy: like, I totally pulled it up and pulled my whole face and
[00:20:02] Susanne: I’ll edit that here. I’ll do one for you. Um, oh shoot. Okay. So what were my look? Listen, we we had our look list and learns ready for our episode with Cara again, who is electronically challenged today in the sense that she has no electricity,
[00:20:18] Missy: new ones. When we do
[00:20:19] Susanne: we will have to watch she scheduled it for tomorrow. Okay.
[00:20:24] Missy: learned nothing new.
[00:20:25] Susanne: No.
Okay. So what I, okay. Give me a minute while I pull up my little thing that says what that might look, listen, learn to wear. It’s called it’s the Beatles anthology. What’s it called?
[00:20:35] Missy: Oh, um,
[00:20:37] Susanne: Get back,
[00:20:38] Missy: get back something back.
[00:20:40] Susanne: I think It’s called, this is me trying to remember things without my notes.
So it’s the new Beatles anthology, which I still haven’t quite figured out how there are like hundreds of hours of no. before, like videos and recordings of the Beatles putting together this album. I mean, it’s so bizarre. You are just right? there. It’s like a watching a reality show. It’s so current in the way that it’s recorded.
It’s like if someone had decided they wanted to record the Beatles in 2021, like it, I feel like it would look very much the same way. So it’s so bizarre. Since, and it’s also just really interesting, like what are the, uh, quotes was? Oh, wouldn’t it be really funny if 50 years from now people are joking about how Yoko broke up the Beatles because she sat on an amp.
So I don’t know. I haven’t gotten to that part. That’s just in the trailer, but I was like, oh my God, that’s so funny. Like you’re, we’re telling the future,
[00:21:38] Missy: No kidding. They knew what was coming
[00:21:40] Susanne: but it’s also really cool. My daughter and I were just talking about on the ride to school today about. For creative people who just think that like these brilliant people, just like, you know, things to spill out of.
them, entire books are entitled entire songs to watch them struggle through like, Hey, I kind of have this melody in my head and like the four of them just start throwing stuff together.
And they’re trying to figure out a word that rhymes with something and they’re like, oh, what’s a state. And then, you know, the Midwest. So it’s just really funny to watch. First of All kind of how arbitrary it is, because I always assign such deep meaning to things like, oh, like this must have come from this deep story.
And then it weld out of
[00:22:27] Missy: And they sat under a tree and created,
[00:22:30] Susanne: No. And it was very much just like, oh, I don’t know which rhyme, you know, What rhymes with that. And they would just throw out and like, just guys from, out in the hallway, they’d be like, how about this.
And like, so, I mean, and it was very. I see how collaborative it was.
Although I am really getting the feeling, even though I’m sure there was a time when it was John Lennon and Paul McCartney, but Paul McCartney is just like, he’s like, Hey, and he’s just, while everybody else has eaten lunch and stuff, he’s like, Hey, I just came up with this song. Hey, I just, and it’s amazing to watch his mind work in like one of the first episode.
Um, John Lennon was late. He was always late. Apparently they kind of gave him grief like every day is like sometime between 10 and 11 he’ll show up. Um, and so he was just sitting there killing time and basically came up with ho I can’t remember what song it was, but cause there were so many of them just flying around anyway, highly, highly, highly, highly, highly
[00:23:26] Missy: good. I had seen a couple of clips floating around and I was like, I don’t know if I’m going to watch the whole thing, but now hearing that
[00:23:32] Susanne: So interesting. So interesting. Yeah. Highly recommend for the well, maybe not for the whole family. Cause they, they drop a lot of F-bombs and there’s a little bit of.
um, yeah, so maybe not with the younger kids, my 16 year olds watching it and really enjoying it though. What about you? Oh, here we’ll alternate.
I have another one, but I need to remember it. So go with yours.
[00:23:54] Missy: Okay. Okay. Well, I have, it’s funny that you’re talking about the Beatles. I have something that’s not quite that far back, but I’m in the way back machine lately, I found by accident flipping through the Hulu one day that they have designing women.
[00:24:10] Susanne: Oh, my gosh.
[00:24:11] Missy: with it? And I was like, I’m just gonna check it out.
You know, I haven’t seen it since probably 1991 or something. And, um, I have over the last few weeks probably watched two full seasons and it’s like, it’s not the kind of thing that you have to sit down. Focus on, I will turn it on while I’m doing like yesterday. I had it on while I was putting Christmas decorations up.
Um, but I love watching their clothes, their hair, um, the furniture around them changes because they’re decorators. So the furniture will change. So it’s like this little time capsule of the late eighties, early nineties. Right. And I’m loving it. The storylines are, some of them are really good actually in some of them are shockingly current.
And so I will watch it and I’ll think, I can’t believe that’s the discussion.
[00:25:04] Susanne: Yeah.
[00:25:04] Missy: freaking having that discussion. They talk about feminist issues, gun control, drugs, sex, like all of it comes up, um, handled in a kind of late eighties, early nineties way, but it is still. We’re still having the same issues.
We’re still having the same discussion. Some of the people they bring up that are in politics are still in politics. Um, so it’s sort of, it’s sort of fascinating to look at that little piece of time and think about where we are now.
[00:25:32] Susanne: Is that’s really interesting because that became up in that Beatles documentary too. Like that get back, it’s called the get back, right.
[00:25:38] Missy: I think
[00:25:39] Susanne: Get back, get back to where you wants belong. Like that was just kind of get back. I bet you like, he was just seeing it and someone had the newspaper and it was about how they were saying that there were too many immigrants coming into Europe.
And so. he’s like, oh, what about like, Like to your country
like let’s, so let’s make a political statement about it. And so it was like, oh, this guy comes from Pickett. Pakistan said, get back,
get back to where he wants to belong. And I was like, oh my gosh. And they were talking so much about same kind of thing.
It’s
[00:26:08] Missy: same stuff. We’re still having the same damn discussions.
[00:26:12] Susanne: decade after decade. Yeah. Oh, interesting.
[00:26:17] Missy: Yeah. So I recommend it
[00:26:18] Susanne: might have to add that. I don’t
[00:26:20] Missy: and it’s so, so much fun. I watched it when it was on. I remember loving it. I mean, for different reasons I was younger, but, um,
[00:26:28] Susanne: I don’t think I’ve watched it originally. Although I do it’s I think become part such a part of pop culture. Like, I feel like I’ve seen it.
because references to, or people will share like a particular episode or a scene from an episode. And I’m like, oh, and I’d love to Annie Potts. She was on there too.
Right.
[00:26:44] Missy: Oh, yes. I love Annie Potts and I mean, Jean smart.
[00:26:49] Susanne: That’s true.
[00:26:51] Missy: it’s so fun to watch her. Yeah. And her husband who passed away last year, is also on the show. He’s Annie Potts boyfriend.
[00:27:03] Susanne: Oh, interesting.
[00:27:04] Missy: Yeah. So it’s fun to watch that, like knowing who they, I didn’t know who all those people were, you know, when I was a kid.
Um, but watching all those interactions is
[00:27:14] Susanne: Oh, I love that. Okay. Um, let’s see, what else? Oh oh, oh, this was exciting because this is your fault. I have been obsessed with The book push, or the push.
Is it that push or push
[00:27:28] Missy: the push.
[00:27:29] Susanne: push. And you were Like I don’t know if you want to read it. it’s pretty dark.
And I’m like, yay. I wish.
[00:27:37] Missy: Like it’s
[00:27:38] Susanne: In, I was in and I could not stop listening to it.
And I mean, I was finding all these excuses too, like, oh, I better go fold the laundry again. Like you don’t know. So I’ve, I just, I’ve just been listening, listening, listening to that.
And also I listened to two other books last week. So I have like three books this week and I’m starting to get them all
[00:27:58] Missy: Ooh, that’s good. How’d you have time to listen to books with your family in town, or is that what you did when you needed a
[00:28:03] Susanne: I know I would take a walk or I do it when I go to bed. I like listen for about a half hour before I go to bed. Or what else was I
[00:28:11] Missy: and you don’t fall asleep? If I, if I
[00:28:12] Susanne: No, I totally fall asleep. No. And I’ll
[00:28:15] Missy: the timer. So the book doesn’t play for
[00:28:17] Susanne: Yeah, I set the timer and then I will wake up and weird, like, like I’ll have a headphone in one hand and I’ll be like, where’s the, I don’t even know where my phone is.
Um, but so I finally got back to listening to some podcast today and I went to go listen to one of my favorites, which is Glennon, uh, Doyle’s, uh, uh, we can do hard things or hard things or whatever it’s called. And her guests was Brene Brown. I was just like, what. And it’s a two partners. I finished the first part, but I was like, seriously, that was
[00:28:52] Missy: to remind myself to do it.
[00:28:54] Susanne: Yeah.
that was like my dream combo of like, if they could’ve just smushed Oprah in there or whatever, like that would have blown my mind and said that, and I’ve always kind of wondered, like what would happen if you put the two of them together?
Like with the.
[00:29:08] Missy: Right. For the world. Just go kabloom.
[00:29:10] Susanne: power this, but anyway, so that, that made my morning. So I took a little extra walk today is to make sure that I had time to listen to that
[00:29:21] Missy: Then you get more steps in there
[00:29:22] Susanne: I know. And the dog’s like, where are we going?
[00:29:26] Missy: I don’t know, but we can’t go until this is over.
[00:29:28] Susanne: It’s so funny because I look at, we can see statistics from our podcast as far as like, if people stopped after a certain percentage or whatever, and. Never take it personally. First of all, we have really good all the way through rates. Good good job for y’all because you can make it through like the end credits.
I do. end so many, like at 75% or 30%, cause I listened to a lot of hour-long podcasts and you know, if I have a half-hour walk, if I, whatever. And so I always try to remember that to be like, no, it doesn’t mean that they stopped. And they were like, This was no
[00:29:59] Missy: never listening again.
[00:30:00] Susanne: No, but I, I mean, cause so I was like, okay, I am not going to stop halfway through.
So that’s why I
[00:30:06] Missy: Yeah. I mean, it can take me a full week. You know of a lapsed time to listen to an hour long podcast, just if I’m listening and you know, the little short minutes I have, it’s like, I don’t, I drive a lot, but not very far.
[00:30:19] Susanne: Yeah.
[00:30:20] Missy: And a lot of times I’m not by myself. Um, so I only have a few minutes in the car by myself.
[00:30:25] Susanne: Yes. I tell you my car died yesterday.
[00:30:28] Missy: Yes.
[00:30:30] Susanne: So yeah, I had to get my car towed, so that kind of threw off
[00:30:32] Missy: That’s super fun.
[00:30:33] Susanne: I know, but thank goodness for Volvo. For four years, they like send a tow truck and they took care of everything it was done within day.
and boop boop free pickup.
[00:30:44] Missy: Awesome.
[00:30:45] Susanne: but then after next year I to get AAA back where
[00:30:48] Missy: Well, Volvo still come get you. You just have to pay for it.
[00:30:51] Susanne: I don’t know what the deal Is after four years. I’m sure. Like in about six months, I’m going to start getting emails
[00:30:56] Missy: right? Yeah. This is going away. What do you want to do?
[00:30:59] Susanne: like to continue your extended warranty or
[00:31:01] Missy: Yeah, I would, I really would.
[00:31:04] Susanne: Because it really came in handy yesterday. . But thank goodness because I had my brother and his family. We went down to Zilker park and it was like a, it looked like a clown car. We had everybody in there. And then
[00:31:19] Missy: How’d you fit everybody in there.
[00:31:21] Susanne: because it has a third row.
[00:31:23] Missy: Yeah, but still there’s. Well, I guess.
[00:31:26] Susanne: We used every, yeah,
[00:31:28] Missy: Yeah, I used every,
[00:31:29] Susanne: used it all, except for Chris. Didn’t go with us. So we had one extra human spot, but then I was like, let’s bring Daisy too. So we brought the dog and then as we were leaving, Zoe had gone downtown to meet up with a friend to buy socks. And I was like, I wonder if she’s done.
So like, I’m like calling. And she needed a pickup when I was like, I’ll go get her, like, who else can we put in here? , , and then I took my brother to the airport and came back And then it, never started again. So
[00:31:54] Missy: it was just worn out,
[00:31:56] Susanne: It was, I think it was just like seriously, like, no, no, but thank goodness it didn’t happen. Oh
my I’m just picturing what would have happened. Like if it happened at Zilker or I, or when I was picking up my daughter at the Starbucks, I decided to pull up in the Ws. Valet parking and just be like, I’m just here for a second. Let’s just leave me alone. Can you imagine if it died? Oh my God. It’d be $400 to just be in the W’s valet parking for a weekend, but yeah,
Thank goodness for good timing. It’s a inconvenience I’m being my gratitude practice
[00:32:30] Missy: there you go.
[00:32:31] Susanne: to be grateful for. conveniently located in car breakdowns. So, yes.
[00:32:35] Missy: Yeah,
[00:32:36] Susanne: All right. Do you have any more look, listen, learned.
[00:32:39] Missy: I don’t think so. Did I say where this came from? My.
[00:32:42] Susanne: No, you didn’t. You told me, but no. Tell the peoples
[00:32:45] Missy: So this shirt, the overthinker sweatshirt, and then she has a lot of other fun ones too, is from see the way I see. So it will put the links in. Um, but I found her on Tik TOK, uh, which is my favorite. I mean, really, sometimes I don’t have a look, listen, learn, because all I watched in the week was TikTok or all of.
[00:33:05] Susanne: It’s such a good thing. I don’t go there. I am. I am way too
[00:33:09] Missy: I have definitely like, I have to limit my time and I know like I can watch Tik TOK while I drink my coffee and that’s it. But yesterday I was like, Ooh, this coffee is taken a while to drink
[00:33:23] Susanne: That’s like me. That was me listening to the push this weekend. Like, whoa, I gotta chew this yogurt so slowly.
[00:33:31] Missy: I had to like, get a grip yesterday and be like, that’s it, you’re done the coffee’s cold. You’ve been dragging it out way too long. Let’s go.
[00:33:38] Susanne: You know, back back to this self love message. It was interesting when we were interviewing Megan, Logan about. We had tried to tag her on Instagram. She’s like I took down Instagram again because I was like thinking about what my intention was when I posted the picture, like what I was really trying to get out of it.
And just for like the week after we, her episode, she put it back on to promote the episode. And then I went to go tag her. yesterday. She’s gone again. She’s gone again. So I just love herself. First of all, her self-awareness about the fact that she does not want to become the Ted talk like extraordinary, or like at this point in her life, that’s not what she wants, but then also just to be so in herself to know like, what is my intention when I’m posting that picture.
And do I feel good about that? Like, is it. The helping support self-love or is that like doing something external? And so, um, I think the answer for a lot of us is similar to, hers, but she’s like one of the few people
[00:34:41] Missy: She’s just
[00:34:42] Susanne: acts on it.
[00:34:43] Missy: yeah.
[00:34:44] Susanne: So don’t go looking for Megan, Logan on the Instagram because she’s gone.
I don’t think she, I don’t think she’s on social media at all.
[00:34:50] Missy: I don’t know that she has either.
[00:34:52] Susanne: Um, so that’s even more important to go listen to her on episode 43
[00:34:58] Missy: Yeah.
[00:34:59] Susanne: Um, Yeah, so that was a really good one and she’s amazing. And get the book and we will let you know tomorrow if you win, but that means you have to go, don’t even have to review.
So you don’t even have to make up any words. CLICK on the five-star click on the five star and that’s all you have to do. Well, no Then you have to let us know that you did it because if you just click on the stars, it doesn’t
[00:35:20] Missy: we have no idea.
[00:35:21] Susanne: it. Um, so just, Yeah, click on it and then shoot us a note, put it on our Facebook, do whatever, just be like I did it.
And then we’ll add you to the list. And then my son will ceremoniously, um, in a randomized drawing. yeah,
he he’s very good at it. I don’t know that it’s legal as far as a contests are concerned, but it is randomized. We don’t pick any favorites. So, All right.
[00:35:48] Missy: All
[00:35:49] Susanne: that is, yeah. How did we make an episode out of like what was supposed to be a two second promo?
[00:35:54] Missy: We’re gifted. We’re gifted.
[00:35:56] Susanne: Gift a gift of gab. What was it? . I gotta, I gotta go edit this then
[00:36:00] Missy: Yeah. Now you’re gonna edit. It might take a few minutes since we talked for awhile.
[00:36:05] Susanne: I can’t wait to see how long this was. Okay. You were supposed to be using this time to go do swim things, to go do swim thing.
[00:36:12] Missy: I got to go order some food and get some donations stuff organized and yeah.
[00:36:17] Susanne: Okay, go do it.
[00:36:18] Missy: All right. I’ll
[00:36:19] Susanne: gonna have a we’re gonna have a little bonus episode.
That’s the size of what our regular episodes should
[00:36:23] Missy: episode.
[00:36:26] Susanne: All right. I’ll Talk to you later.
[00:36:27] Missy: to you later. Bye.
